🏛️ High Commission of India, Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya
For regular (non-e-Visa) cases or document attestation. Most medical-visa applicants will not need to visit in person.
Always confirm current address, hours, and required documents directly with the Mission's official website before travelling there, as these can change.
What's different for Kenyan patients
Kenya's Social Health Authority (SHA) runs a separate overseas-treatment benefit, capped at KSh 500,000 per patient per year, for a fixed list of about 36 procedures the panel has determined aren't yet available in Kenya — it is referral-only (a Level 6 national referral hospital such as Kenyatta National, Moi Teaching & Referral, or Kenyatta University Referral must confirm your condition can't be managed locally first), and SHA has currently empanelled a small, specific list of hospitals abroad rather than any Indian hospital a patient chooses.
This means SHA funding and CrossCareIndia's network are two separate paths, not one — most CrossCareIndia patients from Kenya self-pay directly to the hospital (see how payment works on our About page), the same as patients from any other country. If you believe your case may qualify for SHA's overseas benefit, that referral has to start with your Kenyan specialist and SHA itself; tell your Dedicated Assistant early and we'll help you understand how the two paths interact for your specific case, without assuming SHA coverage applies.
Outside the SHA programme, India has been Kenya's leading medical-travel destination for years, so the logistics — flights, visas, hospital admissions — are well-worn ground for our team, independent of how a patient is paying.
🔍 Sourced from SHA's own public statements and Kenyan news coverage of the Overseas Treatment Benefit Package rollout, current as of when this was written — SHA's rules, cap, and empanelled hospital list have changed multiple times since 2024 and should be re-verified at sha.go.ke before publishing.
Your journey, step by step

1
Share your medical reports
Send your diagnosis and reports to our team. A specialist reviews your case and recommends a hospital and doctor, usually within 24 hours.
2
Get your hospital invitation letter
Once your treatment plan is confirmed, the hospital issues an official invitation letter — the core document your visa application needs.
3
Apply for your visa

5
Treatment, recovery, and follow-up
After discharge, we coordinate recovery accommodation and a remote follow-up plan with your home doctor, so your care doesn't stop when you land back home. See what we arrange for your recovery →
🏅
Verifiable accreditation
Every network hospital is listed on our Hospitals page with its real JCI/NABH registry status — check it yourself, we link straight to the official registry.

James M.· Age 56 · 🇰🇪 Kenya
🩺 Total knee replacement (bilateral) · treated in Bangalore
“Six years of knee pain, and three local surgeons who all gave me different answers. My CrossCareIndia Dedicated Assistant sent me one clear cost estimate, in writing, before I ever booked a flight — and that was the thing that made me trust them.”
✅ Outcome: Both knees replaced in a single admission, walking unaided at 4 weeks, returned to Nairobi after a 16-day stay.
This journey is representational of real patient experiences; the name shown has been changed to protect patient privacy. Not all patients are able or willing to share their contact details — please reach out to the CrossCareIndia team and we'll happily connect you with verified patients from your country who are willing to share their experience and speak with you directly.
Frequently asked questions — Kenya
No. Initial consultations, sharing reports, and getting a written cost estimate are all done remotely before you apply for any visa. You only need e-Medical Visa (eligible) once you're ready to travel for treatment.
Typically 3–5 working days; apply at least 7 days before travel Start as soon as your hospital invitation letter is ready — CrossCareIndia can usually arrange this within a few days of your case being reviewed.
Up to 2 close family members can travel with the patient on a linked e-Medical Attendant Visa (MX).
At minimum: a passport valid for at least 6 months with blank pages, a recent passport-style photo, your medical reports, and the hospital invitation letter CrossCareIndia helps arrange. Travellers from Kenya may be asked for a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate on arrival — carry your certificate.
Patients from Kenya most commonly arrive into Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, depending on which hospital and specialist your case is matched to. Flight time is approximately ~5–6 hrs direct (Nairobi–Mumbai).
Your CrossCareIndia Dedicated Assistant tracks your application alongside you and can liaise with the hospital to adjust admission dates if needed. We never recommend travelling on a tourist visa for treatment — hospitals are required to verify medical-visa status before admitting international patients for procedures.
